About Alpha SAR

Alpha SAR Team Members at the AlphaCon2014 Seminar
Alpha SAR is a Search and Rescue team based in Houston, TX serving the greater Houston, Galveston, and surrounding areas in the search for missing persons. All members of Alpha SAR are 100% volunteers and are highly trained and certified by local and national agencies. We do train canines to aid in search and rescue, but not all members have canines. We also have flankers, man-trackers, mapping specialists, and UAV imagery.

Our Objectives

To provide trained, highly qualified, volunteer search and rescue personnel at the request of authorized emergency agencies

To provide coordinated use of both highly trained searchers, canines, and untrained volunteers during an incident

To provide training and certification opportunities for the volunteers with and without canines in the field of search and rescue

To provide outreach opportunities to the community to learn about search and rescue
